THAT WAS MY VEIL On a dummy in a charity shop window On a rack of clothes next to the car in the field at the car boot sale On a table beside the church jumble In a child’s dressing-up box on top of the wardrobe In a pile lying sodden beside the other things dumped over the fence Or flying on the wind, like a strange tear Don’t flinch when it lands on your head, Don’t pull it off Wrap it around you and listen |
